Victor Pozzi, Jr. Obituary

The world mourns and heaven rejoices as Victor (Vic) John Pozzi Jr., 90, reunited with his wife Adrienne and his heavenly Father on Feb. 28, 2026.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 A.M. Tuesday, March 10th at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.

Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Tuesday, March 10th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Streator.

He was born on Good Friday, April 19, 1935, to Victor and Ruth (Ellis) Pozzi at their home in Cherry, Illinois. He attended Cherry grade school, where he was one of the top three students in Bureau County. He went on to attend Hall High School and LaSalle Peru Ogelsby Junior College before attending the University of Illinois to study engineering.

Vic served in the United States Army and spoke fondly of his time in the service.

He married Adrienne Lucille Ross of Streator, Illinois on March 3, 1962, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Cherry, Illinois. Vic and Adrienne were lifelong members of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Streator. Their lifelong friends sprung from their affiliation with the church, and Vic’s civic commitment developed from those associations.

Vic was an active member of his community, serving as a member of the Knights of Columbus where he was Grand Knight in 1970 and 1990. In the 1970s, he was instrumental not only in the building of the new Knights of Columbus Hall, but also in its running as a bartender during the 1980s and 1990s. He was an active member of the Sons and Friends of Erin where he served as the worthy wielder of the shillelagh. He had the luck of the Irish and the gift of gab. He played on two championship teams as part of the Streator men’s softball league, RME Trucking and Shab’s. His Shab’s jersey hung on his wall until the day he died.

He was employed by the Illinois Department of Transportation as a materials engineer and helped construct Interstate 55, the Bob Michaels Bridge, and the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Bridge in LaSalle, which is the state’s longest bridge at 7,122 feet.

Vic loved the western United States where he traveled with his family throughout South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana. He and his wife Adrienne also traveled the South and Southwest from Florida to Texas.

Vic never met a stranger and enjoyed meeting people wherever he went. His extended family has numerous stories of meeting people who knew “Vic Pozzi from Streator”. Most notably, when some of Vic’s family’s car broke down on a highway in Wyoming, the stranger who stopped to help them saw their Illinois license plate, and true to form, said they knew a guy from Illinois named Vic Pozzi!

Vic lived ninety years and was, to all who knew him, one of the absolute best people they had ever known. He was a million things that cannot be captured here, and he will be deeply missed by his family who take comfort in knowing that Vic always viewed them as his greatest achievement. He and Adrienne had a true partnership that centered around their faith and their love for their children and grandchildren, and the family rejoices that they are together again!

Vic is survived by his beloved children, Ramona Earnest (Scott), Rebecca Harmon (Tim), Victor R. Pozzi, Eileen Dominguez (Rocky); grandchildren, Maria Harmon, Desolina Dominguez, Angelina Dominguez, Andrew Harmon, Nate Harmon, MaryKate Earnest, Kelly Earnest; great-grandchildren, Dexter Harmon, Theo Harmon and Ben Edgar. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Adrienne Lucille Pozzi; father, Victor John Pozzi Sr. and mother, Ruth Lucille (Ellis) Pozzi; paternal grandparents, Giovanni and Elisabetta Pozzi; maternal grandparents, George and Louisa Ellis; siblings William Pozzi, Helen Calhoun, and Marian Yepsen.
