Hubert W. Bacon

Hubert W. Bacon, 81, of Streator passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Pleasant View Luther Home in Ottawa.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Streator. Rev. Bill Callister will officiate. Full military rites will be accorded at the church following the funeral services by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.
Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Monday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Additional visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the services Tuesday at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Pallbearers will be Jay McGrath, Scott Orban, Brad Orban, Leo Orban, Bart Wolfe and Kurt Rankin.
Born October 10, 1939 in Ottawa he was the son of Herbert and Hattie (Kees) Bacon. He married Judith Orban on June 25, 1961 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Streator.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Bacon of Streator; twin sons, Todd and Brian Bacon of Aurora and Steve Bacon of Streator; and grandchildren, Ryley “Mo” and Max Bacon both of Streator.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marilyn Tarr and a brother, Jimmy Bacon.
Born and raised in Ottawa and the Farm Ridge area he attended Farm Ridge Grade School and Ottawa High School.
He served in the United State National Guard.
He worked through the years for the Streator Dependable and later as a Welder/Foreman for Vactor Manufacturing for 37 years.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Streator Eagle’s Club and the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217.
He was active through the years coaching and serving on the board for Streator Youth Baseball when his kids were younger.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Jen Falk, Carol Rankin and Ruth and Jay McGrath for all their help they gave the family.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
